WELCOME TO SVEP

Schoemansdal Victim Support Center is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO). The center is located at Schoemansdal in Nkomazi Municipality under Ehlanzeni District within the Mpumalanga Province. It is operating under the Victim Empowerment Programme (VEP) and its fundamental goal is to provide free and accessible services, effectively and efficiently, to all victims of crime and violence without any discrimination. As an NPO the center is guided by the NPO ACT NO: 71 of 1997 and it is subsidized by the Department of Social Development (DSD) to ensure its smoothly running on a daily basis. Due to its dedication in service delivery to beneficiaries and correctly application of the Minimum Norms and Standards the center recently received its accreditation from DSD from being a CENTER-SHELTER.

Schoemansdal victim empowerment shelter was initiated in 2009 by the late Ms Mkhwanazi Sbongile after the influx from Maputo during Renamo Wars and Political Instabilities and also people from Swaziland seeking for green pastures in South Africa were being victimized and abused. The main aim behind the establishment of the organization was to address the issues of Gender Based Violence, human trafficking and abuse of women and children, persons with disabilities and the elderly in Nkomazi area

This organization therefore has come to life in order to raise awareness of various social ills and defend the RIGHTS OF VICTIMS and also to prevent victims from issues of secondary victimization, and also to liaison with different stake holders both Government and Non-Government for further case management. The organization offers sheltering facilities and professional services to victims of violence and crime. The provision of the service seeks to empower victims through counselling and assist them to resist gender based violence and claim their rights.
